Work where you own the file
Money Brain hires for five roles: three on the lending side, and two at Property Brain, its property-buying business. Each one is a real opening: if the right person applies, I'll hire them. Every role is remote, anywhere in Australia, and pay is competitive, discussed on application. What the five share is ownership of the client's file, from the first conversation to the keys.
Why work here
Most broking jobs are measured on how many loans settle. Here the measure is whether the client got the right loan at the lowest net cost, understood why, and knew what was happening at every step.
That takes time most firms don't give: time to read a lender's policy before telling someone yes, and time to tell a client the answer they didn't want. You'd work directly with me, Darren Parker, the broker behind Money Brain.
How the work actually runs
It's written down. Every stage of a file has its steps written out. You're expected to follow them, and just as much to say when one is wrong.
The client is told. Clients hear from us when their application is lodged, when it's pre-approved and when it's formally approved, and whenever something changes in between.
Software does the repeat work. It handles the repetitive checks. A person reviews everything it does, and the judgement stays with people.
What a bad week looks like
A valuation comes in under the price two days before finance is due. A lender asks, for the third time, for a document it already has. A client who was told to wait is unhappy about it.
The job that week is the same as any other: tell the client what's happened, in plain words, the same day, and fix what can be fixed. If you'd rather not be the one making that call, these roles won't suit you.
The five roles
Three at Money Brain, on the lending; two at Property Brain, on the buying.
Senior mortgage broker
Runs the client's file from the first conversation: what the lenders would lend, the loans compared in dollars, the recommendation and the reason for it.
Loan processor
Takes an application from lodgement to settlement: documents complete and correct before they go, conditions answered, every date kept, and nobody left wondering where the file is.
Client liaison
Keeps the client told at every stage of the file, in plain words: what's happened, what's next, what's needed from them, and by when.
Buyer's agent, Property Brain
Finds and negotiates the property for Property Brain's buyers, working beside the lending so the price fits what the client can borrow and hold.
Property strategist, Property Brain
Plans a client's buying from their lending position: what they can hold now, what comes next, and when to wait, in figures they can check.
Every role is remote, anywhere in Australia. Pay is competitive, discussed on application.
What I look for, in every role
You read the policy, not someone's summary of it.
You say "I don't know yet", and then you find out.
You'll tell a client the answer they don't want, including "wait".
The client's net cost is the only test of a recommendation. What a lender pays never enters it.
You write things down, so anyone can pick up the file where you left it.
Apply, or send something even if no role fits
Tell me which role you're applying for, or what you do if none fits, what you've done so far, and why this way of working suits you. A few lines is enough; no CV is needed in the first message. I'll reply, and if it's a fit, ask for your CV and set up a call.
You'll hear back within the hour in business hours, and by 9am the next business day after hours.
