Client liaison: nobody should have to chase us
Buying a home is the biggest thing most people do, and most of them spend it waiting to hear what's happening. This role makes sure our clients don't. You keep every client told where their loan is, before they think to ask.
Full-time · Remote, anywhere in Australia · Pay: competitive, discussed on application
What a client liaison does here
Answer new enquiries. Be the first reply a new enquiry gets. Money Brain promises a reply within the hour in business hours, and by 9am the next business day after hours. Keeping that promise is part of this job.
Ask for documents once. Send each client one clear list of what's needed, and chase what's missing without making them feel chased.
Tell clients where their loan is. Update them at each stage, from application to settlement and after, whether or not there's news.
Keep everyone in step. Work with Darren, who runs the lending on every file, and with the lender, the solicitor or conveyancer and the real estate agent, so the client hears one clear story.
Keep the record straight. Log every call and document on the client's file, so nobody is asked for the same thing twice.
Mark the milestones. Approval, settlement, the keys. Tell clients, and ask afterwards what we could have done better.
What a normal week looks like
Most of the week is the same few things done well. New enquiries come in and get a reply inside the hour. Clients with a file underway hear where it's got to, even when the answer is "still with the lender". Documents arrive, get checked against the list, and the gaps go back to the client the same day.
Some weeks a file goes quiet at the lender, and you're the one who keeps the client calm while Darren chases it. Other weeks three settlements land at once, and you're the one making sure nobody's keys wait on a missing form.
What makes it hard
The parts a job ad leaves out.
Bad news, early. A valuation that comes in low, or a lender question that will push settlement back. The job is to tell the client straight away, not when you have better news.
People are anxious. A client a week from settlement can be short with you. Staying calm and clear, every time, is the work.
Twenty files at once. Each one feels like the only one to its client. Losing track of one is the mistake that matters most.
Saying "I'll find out". You won't know every lending answer, and you mustn't guess. You'll say you'll find out, and come back when you said you would.
What you need
Experience with people. You've looked after clients somewhere: finance, real estate, a professional office, hospitality or health. Lending experience helps but isn't needed; the lending side can be taught.
Organised and calm. You keep many things moving without dropping any, you write clearly, and you're at home in a CRM, email and shared documents. You stay calm when a client isn't.
Pay, and how the role works
Pay is competitive, and we discuss it when you apply. The role is full-time and remote: you can work from anywhere in Australia.
